These doors are from a few of the many family vaults in Waverley Cemetery, in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. I was intrigued by the variety of styles, materials and adornments.

A great collection of doors so strangely symbolic. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

I wanted something a bit different for the “door” theme, and I happened to be in the cemetery yesterday (taking photos for another post), and while sitting on a bench I realised I was staring at a vault door. “Doors!” I thought. The hunt was on.

That cemetery just keeps on giving! I’d love to go back for another wander.

I’m moving out of the area in three weeks, so now will have to plan a visit rather than just walk down on a whim. This was sort of my farewell. 😦

Oh, where are you moving to?

A suburb called Brighton-le-Sands (I’m gonna get tired of typing all those hyphens soon). Rents are lower, so I can afford a nicer apartment. But I don’t want to leave the Eastern Suburbs!!! 😦

I guess it will just become Brighton then 😀
Not heard of it and I see it is further south, but it should be nice enough on the coast. Aussie property is VERY expensive.

It’s not really “on the coast”. Botany Bay is more like a lake — the water laps gently on the shore, rather than crashing and pounding as along the cliffs. Brighton (no hyphens!) is a very nice area though. And I can watch the planes land at the airport, and the container ships coming in. 🙂

Mmm… I did wonder about the planes.

They don’t go overhead. 🙂 The airport is parallel to Brighton.

Might still be noisy though.
