Hmm, are these trees pointy or spiky?
Hot off the press! (Well, hot from the camera, anyway.) I took this photo a few days ago near Isle of Pines (New Caledonia), one of the many smaller islands. Aren’t these the oddest looking pine trees? They are columnar pine trees and are native to New Caledonia. More info about the trees here if you’re curious.
March’s square theme is Spiky Squares (spiky, jagged, pointy, bristly, serrated, prickly, spiny, and/or barbed)
Definitely spiky and pointy. New Caledonia eh? Good place?

Brief visits so hard to say, as it was 8am-5pm on two days of a cruise. First stop Noumea the capital (which to me was just another scruffy cracked-sidewalk tropical town): in the morning I was out snorkelling on an island, in the afternoon I walked around. Wouldn’t rush back. Next day was Isle of Pines which I did like, green and shadowy and full of birdsong, with great beaches and more amazing snorkelling.

Fascinating pines . . . . . not at all what I would expect in a place where it is warm enough to go snorkelling!

No, me either. I think of pines as colder climate trees.
