These metal railings, with their eroded spiky tops, are in Waverley Cemetery in Sydney.

Love the focus point on the second image!

Ta! I was very happy when I got this camera (years ago now) to be able to do shots like that.

And the camera is? And lens?

oh, sorry! It’s a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200. Not a DSLR but a ‘bridge’ camera — can be fully auto or fully manual, but no changing the lens. Lens is Leica though. π I hummed and hawed but in the end decided against the weight and fuss of a DSLR.

We have had a couple of the Panasonic Lumix range – OH still uses one, though it is several years old now. Takes great photos though for very little carry. I love my Olympus OM-D E-M10 which is very light (mirrorless) and even the lenses are quite light too. With the pancake lens 14 – 42 it is easy to put into a pocket or handbag.

You describe it perfectly: “Takes great photos though for very little carry.” Mine is several years old now too. When I eventually have to replace it I think I’ll go for a mirrorless SLR, I’ve had a few people say they are quite light. And I would like a longer zoom!

The cemetery is a great place for wandering. The first part dates to 1877 and it now covers 16 hectares (40 acres) of very prime Sydney seaside real estate!

In spring, many of the graves are covered with those yellow flowers. Very pretty and photogenic against the railings and statuary.
