B&W 5 Day Challenge: Day 2 – A young girl in Vanuatu

A young girl in Vanuatu

A young girl in Vanuatu

I rarely take photos of people, but this young girl was irresistible. A group of tourists from my resort were lucky enough to be given a guided walk around the resort’s driver’s village. It was a fascinating glimpse into the life of ordinary people on the island.

This image is my Day 2 entry in the Black and White 5 Day Challenge. Jude of Travel Words (and other sites, all well worth a visit) has honoured me by inviting me to join in with this challenge.

There are only two rules for this challenge:

  1. On five consecutive days, create a post using either a past or recent photo in B&W.
  2. Each day invite another blog friend to join in the fun. This is where it gets tricky for me, as I don’t feel that I know five other bloggers well enough to invite them. So I’m going to twist Rule 2 and make it an open invitation — if you would like to join in, please do!

“The dust of everyday life”

I have seen this woman a few times on my walk to the train station after work. Her spirit and determination impress me, and her music does indeed ‘wash the dust from my soul’ after a day at my sometimes tedious job. This photo is my entry in Ese’s Weekly Shoot & Quote Challenge – Music.

“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
